Creative cooks can come up with any type of dish this year, ranging
from main dishes to dessert, and, of course, any and all variations
on pancakes. The recipe must include “Old Muffin Factory”
pancake mix as a main ingredient and it must be an original creation.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place, with
entries judged on taste, originality and creativity, use of product
and appetite appeal.
First prize is $400 in cash and merchandise. Second prize is
$100 in cash and merchandise and third prize is $50 in cash and
merchandise.
Judging the contest will be personnel from Sysco Food Services
of Oklahoma and Ben E. Keith Fine Foods of Amarillo.
Those interested in entering may pick up entry forms at the Liberal
Convention and Tourism Bureau, One Yellow Brick Road. The deadline
to enter is 5 p. m., Friday, Feb. 1. Contestants will be given
a copy of the contest rules and the official pancake mix when
they register. Entrants will prepare their dishes and bring them
to the Knights of Columbus Hall, located in downtown Liberal,
Saturday morning, Feb. 2. Entries will be accepted from 9:30-10:00
a.m. The public is invited to attend and to sample the dishes
after winners are announced.
